The Kasa Smart app is user-friendly, and the instructions are clear. It took me about 5 minutes to get it connected to my Wi-Fi network and add it to the app. I also connected it to Alexa and Google Assistant, and voice control worked flawlessly without any additional configuration. No hub required—just plug it in, connect it to Wi-Fi, and you’re ready to go.Design & Durability:This plug is designed specifically for outdoor use, and it shows. The build quality is solid, with a weather-resistant casing that’s rated to handle rain and extreme temperatures (it has an IP64 rating for water and dust resistance). I’ve used it in light rain and during high humidity, and it’s still working like new. Perfect and always works!
I love Kasa switches and sockets. this one I put in the chicken coop so I could automate the lights and their fan. Connects easy, automation works, quality is great. It has rained a few times and not a single issue. Of all the brands for wifi stuff like this, Kasa has always consistent and functional without much brain power needed and I have tried many over the years. It just works and that is priceless.

It just works.
I’ve had one of these for about 6 months now. It’s on my roof deck with exposure to prevailing wind and rain, limited sunshine. So far, it’s worked flawlessly.I do have several other Kasa devices (lights, socket, camera) so was fairly familiar with the app and set up. For me it was very easy to add this device and set some schedules. We use it to control a couple of sets of roof light strings, and I love that there are two sockets on here that I can control and set timers for individually. Great flexibility.I haven’t yet seen any evidence of issues with water getting in, despite being in a location where it gets a reasonable amount of direct rain. Survived one Northern Hemisphere winter and feels like it’ll last through many more.Solid reliable product, decent app support behind it, it just works!

I have these set up through google assistant for auto lights at sunset. They work every darn day without fail. Its sturdy and weather proof so far. Head up: If you drop internet for an extended time you just unplug them then back in and you’re back in business.

It came without a cover that fills in the plugs when it is not in use. Quality control? Seems like a quick visual check would have noticed this.

Super easy and exactly what I needed
I love this thing. I hooked up my pool filter to it in one spot and the salt water machine in the other. The app is easy to use and programmable, so I’ve got it set for them to turn on and on at a certain time, so I don’t have to worry about it.

Great product to do auto on/off for lights
This thing is awesome. We used it for Christmas lights – set it up with a smart app and didn’t have to deal with going out in the snow to unplug. We tested the area first to make sure wifi reached it.

Great for both simple and advanced use
This works perfectly with the app, is durable, simple to setup, and great on its own. Highly recommend just for that.The rest of my review is using it as an advanced programmable switch using unofficial/unsupported code on a DIY project:The reason I specifically went with Kasa was because there’s a free (unofficial) project called python-kasa from which you can write code to control the switches. For instance: I have an outdoor heater that I want to keep on or off based on the temperature on an outside thermometer. Using the python-kasa API (again, it’s not official nor supported by Kasa) I coded a simple script in Python that runs on my Raspberry Pi that regularly checks the outdoor temperature, and if it’s above a certain temp it makes sure the switch is off, and if it’s below that temp it turns it on.There are an endless amount of things you could program to control the switch.

I am very impressed with this product. It is well made and the app is easy to use, once you’ve gone through the installation process. (We are using the Kasa app.) I appreciated that the instructions packed in the box were brief and to the point, not endless pages of meaningless safety warnings and disclaimers. I would definitely buy again.
