    Overall good choice
Feels more yoga authentic with grip strips, washable, environmental better, & more challenging to my balance being cloth.

    This is the real thing.
If you’ve been looking for a cotton yoga mat / rug like the ones relentlessly marketed by Öko Living, this is it. Very high quality, organic cotton mat with ridges. But this mat, happily, is about 40% of the price, probably because they have cut out the middleman – this mat was shipped directly to me from Jaipur, India.Update:I’ve now been using this mat daily for over a year. It is still exactly as advertised – well made, fit for purpose and durable. Despite the warnings, I do actually throw it in the wash (by itself! not colorfast!), on cold/delicate cycle and, more recently, even in the tumble dryer on low, and it does just fine. I got rid of my travel mat, which smelled nasty, and have toted this to both Africa and Europe in the past year. I couldn’t be happier with it. Yoga friends who have encountered it never fail to admire it and ask where I got it. Washing: The color bled a lot the first time I washed it – to be expected with 100% cotton – and still some more with succeeding washes, so my rug (dark green) is a bit faded (see photo). But it’s still comfortable, nice looking, nice smelling, and easy to roll up or fold for travel. I’ve probably washed it 8 or 10 times in the past year and it is holding up fine. I couldn’t be happier with it.Original review:I have been using this daily for about 3 weeks and it is exactly as advertised – well made, fit for purpose, durable, and made of all natural materials – no funky plastic smell. It’s also lighter weight than a cork mat, and rolls up easily. As far as I can tell, it’s available in about 10 colors – UPDATE – and they are now available as selections in this single listing! If you don’t see a bunch of color selections, be sure to search for “Jaipur art & Rugs Organic Cotton Yoga Mat” to see all the lovely colors.I have not tried washing it but will update this review when I have.

    Very nice!
This Yoga Rug is perfect. It is very well made. I am using it as an actual rug in my bedroom so it is easy for me to just go right into my practice. It is thick enough, but I added a yoga mat underneath for extra cushion. It does not slide around. I love the yellow color. It is a darker yellow, kind of mustard like color. My rug had no weird smells at all. I used it the first night.

    color is totally off!
This is not a pink rug, it’s like a dark burnt orange almost brownish color. But that aside, the rug is nice and easy to do yoga on, comfortable and the marked likes make it easy to check my position.Unique type of yoga mat, other than the color everything else is great

You might be better off paying more for the oko living mat.
The quality is descent. Unfortunately the mat came with a very strong watery/ mildew smell. It has been washed 2 times with white vinigar and essential oil infused laundry detergent and i drenched wool dryer orbs in EO’s and still it persists. Subsequently there are also a few snags that have pulled due to the wash and low tumbel dry. Otherwise I really love the mat. It is too slippery to use on a hardwood studio floor but underneath my everyday grippy mat, my perfered substitution for a micro fiber towel. It works well on a gym floor and on the ground outside. Over all I love the mat and I do hope the smell subsides. Although given the chance to purchase something else I would have chosen the oko living mat or something like it, guaranteed not to smell.

    New Daily Yoga Mat
I opted for the Jaipur mat in dark green. It feels different–more course–to my bare feet, but it’s not uncomfortable. The nine ridges at either end do not hurt my hands or feet, and help with traction. I like the fact that it’s made of organic cotton, with no chemicals used in the manufacturing process. And it’s washable. Another reviewer said it was machine washed, and I’ll try that as well eventually. It is thick enough, and lays flat on the carpet where I do yoga. I’ve had it three days. It came wrapped in plastic, and had a slight odor–not unpleasant–when removed. I aired it out–pictured–and the odor has dissipated quite a bit, and should be gone in another day or two. Looking forward to my yoga practice tomorrow morning.

    Not great at all
Shrinks 30% making it hard to do yoga on it. Sheds fibers which get in the eyes and all over the clothes. Reached out to company to discuss what they did not respond.

Toxic smell, loose threads-do not recommend
First off, I think the design is great with added traction via ropes woven into the mat. I have another cotton mat and sliding can be an issue. However , $70+ price point is A LOT. But I was willing to pay if the product was good quality.Out of the bag, toxic smell almost took my breath away. It smelled like all pool chemicals together. After touching the mat my hands smelled like that too. Gross. I washed it, twice, right out of the bag, hoping to get the stink out. It still smells horrible! What’s the point of selling “organic cotton” if you’re going to saturate it in toxic chemicals? The weaving is pretty loose as compared to my other cotton mat and I can see loose threads starting already. This mat won’t last very long. For these reasons it’s going back.
