With robot blinds, I see the light, literally!
Absolutely love my new robot automated blind openers. Being able to take pre-existing blinds, not spend hundreds and hundreds of dollars on getting custom motorized blinds, and have the functionality of setting them on a schedule, pair with smart home services like Alexa is just awesome. This allows me to see the world, experience the daytime and natural daylight, etc so much more easily and with much more regularity. I set my blinds to a set schedule but also have the ability to open/close them with vocal commands. The addition of the solar panel also just makes everything so much easier and more green nothing having to deal with charging or replacing batteries. Truly a very good deal.

    Five stars 🌟
Five stars, very happy. I installed these on two of my windows prior to vacation a year ago and I haven’t touched them since. The solar charging panel has held up marvelously, I have not even once had to take down the unit to charge it manually. It has never failed to open or close. When the time changes I simply update the open and close time and forget it again.Set up was overall easy. The measuring was simple enough with the provided tapes and measuring assistants. The only problem I had was closing the turning clamp around the wand. I had measured it multiple times but in the end I needed help closing the clamp because it fit so tight.I would definitely order more if I had any other windows needing such a device.

Very good, but read the caveats.
Honest review from a person who bought 16 of them.1) I am a smart home tech guy. I have nearly everything connected in my home, 150+ devices and connections. I will give an honest assessment and not from a know it all perspective.2) Installation is really easy. Clipping the gear on the wand is the hardest part and a pair of plyers helps.3) The app seems well built. I like the options for Scenes to build an automation for each blind setting across all blinds.4) Device groups is beta but honestly works fine if YOU ARE WITHIN RANGE.5) The app doesNOT connect to the blinds individually or in groups if you are more than 10-15 feet away. At all. Zero chance.6) Automations seem to work Ok From the app regardless of where you are. Setup a schedule and the blinds will work flawlessly. Want to open one blind from the app from your work? Nope.7) Hubs don’t matter. By 11 or buy 1. Same connectivity.8) Buy the remote control. Same proximity issues as the app, but if you create a Scene to move all at once, it works great.9) I spray painted mine to match the blinds and they still connected the same.10). Does not play well with Alexa. At all. Don’t bother. Just use the automation and schedules in the app.11) If you have 21 windows on your first floor like me and you want something that just works like clockwork on a schedule, with extremely minimal involvement ONCE setup, and you don’t want to pay 350+ per window for something factory installed, this is for you. I would recommend if you are ehhh.. so-so savvy, but not for those who are technically inept.12) I have the window solar battery and after 6 weeks, they are about 15% depleted with 85% remaining. They move 3 times daily.. open, open more, close.

Excellent customer support. Device may work well or not, depending on your blinds.
TL;DR: Customer support is excellent. Make sure to update firmware to v2.0 to 1) create groups of up to 4 devices and 2) get better solar charging. If your blind tilt mechanism seems to get stiff every 1/2 or full turn when the tilt rod is operated fully vertical, be careful as the device might struggle. Read on for details.First, the initial bad experience:I purchased one of these along with a SwitchBot Remote to be able to control my 2 office blinds at the same time. It didn’t work because I wasn’t able to create a group of devices as the feature wasn’t implemented, so I ended up having to purchase a Mini Hub to create a scene and assign the scenes to the remote buttons. I left a review in the Remote product page stating that the fact that it can only control a single action for a single device for each button should’ve been clear from the start.Customer support reaches outStella, from SwitchBot customer support, reached out and sent me a guide explaining how to assign multiple device actions to a single button. The guide she sent wasn’t really helpful, but through that I was able to find another guide that stated I needed to upgrade to firmware 2.0 in order to enable the group function, and that (at the time) had to be requested to SwitchBot support). I took the opportunity to provide some more feedback related to other issues, and they were very interested in getting more information. The exchange was really helpful.Solar chargingWith the firmware I had at the time (v1.2), solar charging reached a maximum of level 5 for any of my blinds, which are not exposed to direct sunlight, but do get a lot of natural light regardless. The device will not fully replenish the battery below level 6 lighting, although it will extend the battery life anyways – this was explained to me quite thoroughly by customer support, which was very good.Comes firmware v2.0I got the prompt to update to v2.0 today, and I immediately noticed that the lighting level was way higher for all my blinds (they did mention some changes they were making to their algorithm in an email they sent me), so now they’re all above level 6. The group feature is also available, so one can create a group of up to 4 blinds to be operated all at the same time, so getting a Remote is also worth it.Tilt hook issuesThe only pending issue I have is related to the format of my tilt hooks (the hook at the end of the tilt wand that connects to the tilting mechanism). When operated fully vertical, like the device does, they’ll get really stiff every 1/2 or full turn. This has nothing to do with the SwitchBot device, to be clear. But it might prevent it from operating properly nevertheless. I’m still looking for a solution, and I think that this product might work: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00YG3625O/Either this or somehow making the hook a bit flatter at the top, to avoid it from getting stuck. It’s an issue related to how torque is transmitted from the rod to the tilting mechanism when operated vertically, which puts them both at an angle from each other.Bottom line:I recommend you manually operate your tilt rod vertically to see if it tends to jam every 1/2 or full turn. If that happens, perhaps try getting the adapter I mentioned above or replacing your tilt rod before attempting to install this device, as it’ll avoid frustration. Customer support is excellent, so you got that working in your favor.

Switchbot is a low-cost home automation for your blinds
I bought this as an alternative to the Somfy blinds motors I got for my bedroom. The Somfy’s are great, fast and quiet but very expensive. Each one was $170. For $170 I got 3 Switchbots for my upstairs home theater room. The Switchbots were very easy to install, although they are visible whereas the Somfy’s are invisible (inside the blinds tray at the top). They are Bluetooth instead of WiFi which means long battery life and better reliability. They are quite a bit louder than the Somfy and MUCH slower. But, if you can live with that, they are fine.

    Great product but be aware
Great product just don’t use the q code on the instructions where it says to enter a credit card.Card was hacked twice by doing so.

  7. Sherif Farid

Very good design, less noise than similar motor ideas, very good and stable solar charging and good connectivity to wifi and Google home app

I purchased the SwitchBot Tilt to automate opening one of my blinds at sunrise, allowing my plants to get their daily dose of sunlight from the very beginning of the day. It has been working well, especially since I no longer have to manually open the blinds, which I would typically do much later after waking up and getting ready. The battery life is impressive, lasting a long time without needing frequent recharges. While the solar panel was a bit tricky to position—especially with the tilt mechanism sitting near a bug screen that limits direct sunlight—it hasn’t been a major issue since the battery performance is so reliable. Overall, it’s been a great addition to my setup!

Ci è voluto un po di tempo per le tarature di installazione ma adesso funziona bene. Con il pannello solare è autonoma

  10. Amazon Kunde

Tut was er soll einfache Bedienung

  11. Cliente Amazon

I stumbled on this device during Cyber Monday. Installation was easy, works great, does the job, the solar panel is an excellent feature (no cables from an outlet). Only disadvantage is that you need an additional hub if you want to control it with Google Home. I might try to use Home Assistant with a Bluetooth dongle.
