Opens but won’t close
This was a great idea however, the curtains doesn’t close all the way. I’ve had to try all workarounds with no success. My son will be coming to visit soon – I’ll see if he can get it working properly. If not I will be returning this product. So sad.I was contacted numerous times from this company. They truly worked with me to try and resolve this issue. They offered a refund and processed the refund immediately for one of the two I purchased. I am incredibly impressed by the level of customer service switchbot gave and their dedication to the smart home space. I will be getting more of their products in the future.

LOVE THIS
I absolutely love this SwitchBot! It was easy to set up, is made of quality materials, and works perfectly. You can customize settings in the app and connect it with Alexa through their optional hub. The battery life is incredible, I haven’t charged it since I started using it (2 months). I have it set to open and close at specific times everyday.

No idea why it requires a hub to work with Alexa
I mean they work, no idea why they need a hub though. If they advertised more clearly that they needed a hub I would not have purchased and have since returned. You can buy a cheap $10 smart plug from china that doesn’t require a hub. I don’t want a hub for every smart item I buy, that’s the whole point of an Alexa is to tie it all together….

Couldn’t live without them now.
I have a window on my stairs that I can’t reach and so always had the curtains shut. With this switchbot I know can just tell alexis open stair curtain and i get sunlight for my plants and stairway. Then I bought more for bedroom as I had surgery and couldn’t get out of bed but I was able to agian just say open bedroom curtain and got sunlight. These things are amazing and will be buying a lot more.

I want them to work, but that’s not enough.
I want to like this product so much. I’ve purchased nine of them total for various windows in our house. They all started off mostly fine. We use them with curtain rods, which is how I imagine most people in the U.S. use them. The rods have to be a particular size and, while it says you can use them with an expandable rod (the kind that produces a “bump”), in my experience it struggles a LOT to go over the bump. I’ve tried the included metal tape sticker. I’ve tried duct tape and packing tap. None of those things seem to work. I never once got the magnet to work on any of them. I had to exchange two because they stopped charging. Now, about two years after purchasing the first one, almost none of them are still working. Most have totally lost connection with the timer and have to be manually opened and closed in the app. The plastic housing on one of them cracked and now no longer works at all. the “gentle tug” to open thing never really worked either. Like I said, I REALLY want these to work, but they just don’t. I would not recommend them.

Such potential, but a fail.
Firstly, don’t expect this install to take less than 15 min.Secondly, you CANNOT use the app to set open/close schedules. You MUST purchase the hub for that.So here I sit 20 min after install and having just got off the phone with Support…. And I’m just frustrated. The app looks like you can schedule, but you don’t find out till you start trying to schedule times that it’s not possible without the hub. Super disappointing. And the noise: I was unable to run it on quiet mode, but my dog was scared of it. You can definitely hear it in normal mode. It would likely wake me up and I’m not a light sleeper.

Switchbot,It really works
Not a rocket scientist with computers, but was able to get this to function for my intended purpos4. And that is to be able to open and close my curtains when out of town, to give that lived in appearance. Online video by reviewers, and SwitchBot helped a lot.

Install
Easy install. Also easily join with other smartbot curtain.

A lot of step by step setup but it was easy to understand. Needed to adjust things to fit them in my home. Initially a bit worried that the white color device on my black curtain rod would be too noticeable but it seems okay on it.A bit of spending to just open curtains automatically but love it as set times to open and close by itself. Also motorized rods are even more expensive and they are not portable.Still think it would be better to install powered motorized one if do renovation next time for long term as no worry for batteries or solar panels, and clean look.

Works perfect throughout Switchbot app, Alexa app and Smartthings. Two Different issues:-Alexa connection works great but does not have the quiet drip mode or silent mode-Matter connection in Smartthings work great, but will not have any scene transfer or silent modes optionWorkaround:Create scene for Silent mode / Quiet Drift in Switchbot app >> Trigger scene with Alexa routines >> Smartthings will need virtual switch to trigger Alexa scene(Normal Open close and percentage openings are accessible from all 3 apps without any workaround)

Klare Kaufempfehlung!
