The Ring Transformer enables smart controls for compatible low-voltage non-Ring landscape lights at home when paired with the Ring Bridge.
Ring Bridge, Ring Alarm Pro, Echo (4th Gen) or Echo Show 10 (3rd Gen) required to enable smart features, such as mobile notifications and customizable settings.
Add this to any Ring Smart Lighting Starter Kit with Ring Bridge so you can get notifications, customize settings, and connect to other Ring devices – all from the Ring app.
Requires one Ring Bridge (sold separately) placed indoors to connect non-Ring landscape lights to the Ring app, other Ring Smart Lights, and Ring doorbells or cameras to create a fully connected home security system.
The Transformer installs in minutes outdoors with the included mounting hardware and plugs into standard power outlets.
Transformer is compatible with any light fixture that requires 12V through 15V.

Powerful landscape transformer
We have had a Ring alarm / camera system for a few years and when we updated our front yard landscaping we wanted to be able to control the lighting from the Ring app. Got this Ring low voltage power transformer and lighting bridge so that our lighting could be connected, controlled and scheduled via the Ring app. Couldn’t be happier! This unit is quite powerful at 200 watts. To get this much power from other manufacturers you could pay double or triple for a quality unit. One caveat is there is only one 12v or 15v zone connection. So if you need multi zone system this unit can’t do that (ie all lights are on the same schedule / zone). You will need more than one of these to do multi zoneThe Ring app gives you a lot of controls and functions to mention here. We save multiple schedules which we can turn on and off from the app as needed. Great for when you are away from home.Since the Ring bridge is required to connect the transformer we also got a couple Ring outlets that allow use to control and schedule lights inside our home.

Making my old patio lights – SMART!
I have a paver stone patio with lighting underneath steps and around our seating wall / pillars. My old transformer had an ambient light sensor that would trigger the lights on / off. However it was difficult to use and set up. Just recently, at just about 4 years old it started to fall apart.Surprisingly there are not a ton of smart lighting transformers in this field. I came across the Ring transformer, which was basically made to work with its own set of lights but also just “happened” to work with older lights too.I looked around as the ONLY feature I wanted was a dusk til dawn option. I saw many reviews where some said it had this feature, some said it did not. Seemingly it was updated at one point to include this feature however Ring was absolutely no help! I received different answered from different customer service reps. The install took 2 minutes. Went into the app found the dusk til dawn option and selected it. The only thing to do now was wait.As night set in, they turned on! This is ALL I wanted in my case and it works excellent!I do not like how Ring made their hub though. It needs to sit somewhere / be attached to a surface. Many others who need to use hubs have a simple plug-in Mount which is much cleaner. This will make me resort to finding a third party mount. I also with the Transformer had WiFi onboard so it didn’t need the hub! Now, my lights will turn on and off when I expect them to and I have the additional control of them through my phone.I’m happy.

Easy Install with basic overall smart functionality, but still has room for growth.
First the pros: Though it was probably overkill, I purchased two boxes to ensure that I could run all of my lights. Due to our large yard, I had to bury over 200 feet of low voltage cable but I am sure purchasing just one of these boxes would have worked for all 200 feet. The mounting instructions and template were spot on. You have 3 wire inputs on the transformer itself: one for a common wire and two separate inputs for a 12 v and 15 v. All lights powered on and the linking both boxes to the Ring bridge and Alexa was very easy and straightforward. Now the cons: 1. Creating the light timing schedules is pretty simple, once you figure out where to go on the Ring app to do it. However, I was surprised to see that there was no sunrise/sunset timing option available in the app. Within the app itself, there is also no option to just turn the lights on for any longer than 1 minute, 5 minute, 15 minute and 30 minute options. At one point, there was a 4 hour option, but that has since disappeared and was only an option for one of the boxes anyway. On top of that, two separate devices for each box show up in Alexa discovery: one as a switch and one as a light. Using Alexa to turn on the light still follows the 4 option window, though this is not always the case. My best theory as to why this happens is that Ring does not want you to have these lights on during the day, but even at night, there are no additional options available and I am therefore still working to confirm this theory. When I tell Alexa to turn the landscape lights group on, sometimes the lights stay on for more than a few minutes, sometimes they don’t. It is a tad bit frustrating and the instructions do not address this or how to do anything after the installation of the boxes themselves. I understand, however, that the product is still very new and I am sure these issues will be addressed over the coming months as more people start to use it. Once the light power on options and the sunrise/sunset issues are addressed, this will easily be a five star item and offer a smooth transition into your smart home automation.
