No More Left-Opened Garage Doors; & Great for Package Security – ALL FLAWLESS
I bought this because my sister accidentally left her garage door opened overnight; and being unaware of this the contents therein were burglarized. That’s when I bought might. I also received a good amount of deliveries and I liked how I’d be able to remotely open my garage door to give others access. The setup of the unit really was a breeze, largely because it required an Ethernet (as opposed to a WiFi) connection to your network. However, I admit that setup was slightly confusing with two separate installation documents provided. Wisely I think, I watched two YouTube videos that ironed out the installation sequence “hands-on.” I have a new 3-module (TP-Link) mesh whole home network system, and like at least one other here, was concerned because the two Ethernet ports on the module connected to my ISP’s modem were obviously being used (1 IN from the modem, 1 OUT to an 8-port Ethernet switch), and the instructions state to connect this product to the router. HOWEVER, I found that the two Ethernet ports on one of my other two remaining modules worked perfectly, and simply used one of those. I received the solid green light (confirming connection) immediately. PERFECT!Registering the unit on the web was easy, and even going to my garage to press the “LEARN” buttons separately on each of my two garage door openers (I have two, one for the left and right, resp., outwardly-open garage doors) took ONLY the requisite two (on each) presses (they were the wall units; if you go to the motor unit on your ceiling it is a single press). I then downloaded the app and very intuitively and within seconds set up an alert that should either of my doors be open for more than 10 minutes, I’d get both a push and email notification. That’s exactly what I wanted.Lastly, I very much like the idea that should I get a mid-day delivery that includes my being in contact with the deliverer, OR, I can contact a neighbor, I can now open either my L or R garage doors and have them place the package or large box or furniture inside my garage. Of course it’s a big help that I have a security cam on the garage door.Ultimately, this product and its attendant app does precisely what I wanted and expected it to do. EMBARRASSINGLY, I’ve actually owned it since mid-July, but just installed it here mid-December. OK, so that’s on me and my ubiquitous procrastination. But I truly don’t know why I waited so long because after I took 15 minutes to read the documentation and find a couple of online videos, the full process of adding two “devices” (my left and right garage door openers, separately) took all of maybe 10 minutes. And now I have great peace of mind!

Easy to install, works well
I installed this product for my commercial garage door opener that operates a large overhead door at a remote location. Connected power to the 828LM gateway, connected the ethernet cable to a TP-Link 5-port LAN switch that is fed from the main router, logged in to the MyQ app, pressed the Radio button on the commercial opener. Everything linked up first try. Set push notifications for when the door opened, closed, or stopped. Set another push notification to remind me if the door stayed open more than 10 minutes. Glad to be able to know when that door is accessed, and to be able to remotely provide access to others when needed without providing the digital keypad code.

Can Confirm This Works Fine with Chamberlain MyQ Openers
I just wanted to confirm that this works great with a Chamberlain MyQ ready garage door opener. Not sure what model Chamberlain I own but I bought it from Lowes last year thinking it was going to be ready to go with remote access out of the box. Turns out it was only MyQ ‘ready’ – has the MyQ symbol on the opener – and didn’t include the gateway itself. So I waited until I saw the gateway for a reasonable price and eventually picked up this Liftmaster version after being pretty confident it would work.Set up was easy. Just plug the unit into a wired port on your home internet router or a small switch and so long as your router is set up for DHCP (gives out IP addresses automatically) then it will automatically register and sync up with Liftmaster. After that, just download the Liftmaster MyQ app (free) and set up a free account at the provided Liftmaster website. Once you do that, you just go to the app and setup the new device (opener) which just involved going to the opener and hitting the “Learn” button on it. It tells you on the app when the device has been successfully added. The app itself is a breeze to use. Very intuitive although the first time you use it you may not know that you need to just press on the garage door image to open or close it using the app. Tells you how long it has been open or closed even if you weren’t in the app at the time it was last opened or closed. You can easily set up alerts to let you know if someone opens or closes it and the alerts can be filtered down to certain times of day or days of the week. So, for example, when my daughter comes home from school and lets herself in through the garage door I can get an alert that the door was opened. I can set the alert to only be Mon-Fri which is nice and I can toggle the alert on and off as needed without needing to set it all up again every time I want to enable it.Really a great product. I now have this, Honeywell wifi enabled thermostats, and a couple of IP cameras at my house as the beginning of some home automation.
