    A good upgrade! (Update 13JUN2025)
1JUN2025 – Just got this camera a few moments ago, and I’d have to say that this camera has some bulk to it! This camera protrudes about 1 1/2 inches, but this accounts for the additional battery it takes, which are 3 lithium batteries that are provided.Blink also seems to have improved the mount on the bottom, where it’s now a push motion to separate mount from the camera. You receive some additional tools for mounting and wiring, which come in sealed bags. The instructions provided are very easy to follow and get your camera online. It’s a worthy upgrade from the previous Blink doorbell camera! Will see how performance goes as time goes on.13JUN2025 – I’ve had the Blink subscription to test the Person Detection for this doorbell, and it has been AWESOME! The position of my front door does not allow me to position it differently, so it has to face to road. I’ve received minimal, if not almost zero notifications of movement from cars, car lights animals, and other movement.Comparing it to the previous version of the Blink doorbell, this is a significant improvement. I had to constantly adjust the sensitivity to minimize the amount of unwanted motion, while also trying to capture the motion that were important, and saving battery life. Now with this new version, I am more comfortable maxing out the sensitivity and the duration of the recording, thanks to the Person Detection feature. And, this camera is easy to remove from the mount! I don’t have to struggle with using the prying tool to push down the clip to remove the camera. This now just requires you to push the spring loaded clip that holds the camera, and it releases with ease. The fact the back camera itself is protect from the elements with an actual cover for the battery, is a great feature too.Overall, still very pleased with this upgrade, and I think you will too!

Great Add-On, But Check Accessory Fit & Hope for Future Power Options
As an add-on to our existing Blink system, this newest Blink Video Doorbell delivers excellent performance. The head-to-toe HD view is a significant improvement, providing a much fuller picture of visitors and packages, and the two-year battery life is a major convenience, greatly reducing maintenance. Setup was simple and integrated seamlessly with our existing Sync Module and Blink app. However, be aware that this newer generation doorbell is a couple of millimeters larger than previous models, meaning it will not fit most older Blink accessories available on the market. Always confirm compatibility for any aftermarket mounts or covers. My only other minor wish is for future versions to offer support for house power instead of solely relying on batteries. While the battery life is impressive, a wired option would be ideal for continuous peace of mind.Overall, it’s a solid performing doorbell with great features for existing Blink users. Just double-check accessory compatibility and manage expectations regarding power sources.

Blink Smart Doorbell Review Update: Now Supports Internal Storage
I bought the Blink Smart Doorbell for its improved image quality and easy setup. The 1440×1440 resolution and wide head-to-toe viewing angle are definite highlights, and installation was simple. Design and value for money are a mixed bag—some in my family like the look and price, others don’t think it’s worth it.The biggest drawback is the sync module. You can’t use a flash drive or SD card for local storage, so you’re forced to buy a subscription to save videos. This wasn’t clear in the product description and feels misleading.Pros:Sharp image qualityWide, head-to-toe viewStraightforward setupCons:No local storage optionSubscription required for video storageMixed opinions on design and valueOverall, it works well, but the storage limitations and unclear description are disappointing. I’d recommend it only if you’re okay with paying for a subscription OR having old sync moduleUPDATE:Blink has since sent me a new sync module that supports internal storage. This resolves my main complaint about needing a subscription just to save videos. Now, you can store footage locally without extra fees, which is a huge improvement.

    Doesn’t actually work OUTSIDE.
I bought this for my mom, along with a blink camera. I have several Blink cameras and really like them, but this is my first experience with the doorbell (I have a Ring doorbell that works flawlessly)Setup was easy and it found/connected to the Wifi no problem. The house is small and all other devices work well, even outside. Not this thing. It works fine INDOORS, but as soon as I install it outside, literally 6″ from where it worked inside, it stops responding. The doorbell chime is terribly delayed, or non-existent. The video constantly times out, or is a single b/w screen shot. seriously, WTH. 🤨We tried several locations around the door, and every other suggestion out there, including starting from scratch adding the device again. 🤦‍♂️How the hell can it NOT work outside? The blink camera we installed at the same time works great, and yep, it’s outside. How incredibly annoying to spend almost TWO hours f’ing with this thing, and it doesn’t work. Guess I’m installing a Ring doorbell now.Side note, it doesn’t mount terribly securely. There’s a “special tool” to un-mount it, but any screwdriver could remove it. It’s also loose in the mount, not weather sealed enough IMO.
